Walk to the Mailbox

In the month of February, our curriculum discusses “Community Helpers.” The children and their teachers talk about what community helpers are and what they do. The topic of community helpers also introduces conversations about what we want to be when we grow up. The Chipmunks and Muskrats had an opportunity to write a letter to someone special.
Together, they walked to our nearby mailbox to drop off the letters. Writing letters and walking to the mailbox fostered the children’s language development and fine motor skills. Before delivering our letters, we talked about the different parts of a letter and envelope. We also made predictions of how long our letters would take to deliver.
